Fort Worth 1 year change in sales continues to post big losses

Fort Worth’s 746 home sales in May 2009 were the lowest May sales since May 2003. It was a 26 percent drop from last May’s 1,009 and a 34 percent drop from May 2007’s 1,136 sales.

Neither the average nor the median price of homes increased from last May either. The average price of homes was down 10 percent from May 2008 to $142,200 from $157,700, and the median price was down 8 percent to $113,800. This was the worst May for median prices since 2005, and since 2006 for average prices.
There was also an 11 percent drop in the number of active listings. May 2009 had 4,849 active listings. It was the lowest number of May listings since 2004.
