Fort Worth Continues to Struggle with Low Sales

Although the national market seems to be improving Fort Worth continues to struggle with low sales. In June 2009, Fort Worth lost 23 percent in home sales from June 2008. There were 772 sales in June 2009, which is a loss of almost a quarter from the 997 sales in June 2008. The sales are an even bigger disappointment compared to June 2007, which saw 1104 homes sold. This is a two year loss of 31 percent.

On a positive note, average and median prices are up not only from May 2009, but also from June 2008. The average home price for June 2009 was $154,600, which is a 2 percent gain on June 2008’s $152,200, and the first positive yearly increase since June 2008. The median price was the same for 2008 and 2009 at $121,000; however, this is also the first month to not drop from its prior year equivalent since June 2008.
